NCC Validates Quality of Refurbished Solwezi Independence Stadium
The National Council for Construction (NCC) has commended the quality of work done on the refurbished Solwezi Independence Stadium, stating that it surpasses expectations outlined prior to the renovation.
Professor Paul Makasa, the Executive Director of NCC, provided an expert assessment of the stadium after conducting thorough checks. He expressed satisfaction with various aspects of the project, including the installation of a new playing surface, changing rooms, and terraces.
Makasa clarified misconceptions regarding the project’s budget, explaining that building an ultra-modern stadium with a budget of $300,000 was impractical due to additional costs such as VAT and preliminary expenses.
Accompanied by other NCC officials, Makasa emphasized that the stadium meets safety standards and caters to the needs of wheelchair users, with recommendations made for further improvements, particularly regarding wheelchair access ramps.
Despite some incomplete areas, Makasa affirmed that the tour was conducted in good faith and expressed hope for stakeholders to collaborate in maintaining the facility’s quality and usability.
In conclusion, Makasa reiterated the NCC‘s satisfaction with the project’s execution, noting that certain aspects exceeded the initial scope outlined by FIFA, underscoring the high standard of workmanship and attention to detail.
The validation from the NCC serves as a testament to the successful completion of the Solwezi Independence Stadium refurbishment, affirming its readiness to serve both athletes and spectators for years to come.
