MUZA Queens Crowned Champions of FAZ Division One Southern Province
F.C. Muza Queens have triumphed in the FAZ Division One Southern Province women’s league, capping off an incredible 2023–2024 campaign. The Fontina Sakala-coached team was declared winners during the season’s grand final, which took place on Sunday afternoon at Mazabuka’s Nakambala Stadium.
The Elegant Dynamites Queens dominated the recently concluded season, finishing with 24 wins, 8 draws, 103 goals scored, and just 9 goals conceded. Their remarkable performance earned them Guard honors from Musports Academy, and they were presented with gold awards. Francis Hamfwiti, the chairperson of the Southern Province FAZ, attended the historic occasion and encouraged the MUZA Queens to aim for promotion into the National Division One League.
Additionally, F.C. MUZA President Keith Mweemba praised the queens for their outstanding performance throughout the season. “Your hard work, dedication, and unmatched skill have brought pride not only to the club but to the entire Southern Province,” Mweemba stated.
The grand final saw MUZA Queens and visiting Musports Academy play to a 1-1 draw. Despite the draw, MUZA Queens’ season was historic, as they became the first team in the province’s FAZ women’s football league to win a championship without losing a single game, breaking numerous records along the way.
MUZA Queens will now represent the Southern Province at the National Division One women’s league Play-offs set for next week in Lusaka. Their stellar season and undefeated record position them as strong contenders for promotion and further success in Zambian women’s football.
