Mbappe Subbed at Half-Time in Monaco Draw
Kylian Mbappe was substituted at half-time and observed the remainder of the match from the stands with his mother as Paris St-Germain drew against his former club Monaco.
PSG’s record goal-scorer with 244 goals, Mbappe has agreed to join Real Madrid at the end of the season. Manager Luis Enrique opted to replace him with Randal Kolo Muani at half-time.
“This was entirely the coach’s decision, as we will eventually have to adapt to playing without Kylian Mbappe,” Luis Enrique explained. “I made this choice for the team’s benefit.”
After changing into a tracksuit, Mbappe was seen speaking on his phone in the tunnel before joining his family in the stands instead of sitting with his teammates on the bench.
PSG will face Real Sociedad in the Champions League last-16 second leg on Tuesday. The team leads Ligue 1 by 12 points over Brest, with Monaco trailing by another point in third place.
