Makinka in South Africa Pursuing CAF A Diploma Course Training
Nkwazi’s assistant coach, Dennis Makinka, is currently in South Africa undergoing training for the CAF A Diploma course. He joins a growing number of Zambian coaches who have been upgrading their coaching credentials.
The club officially confirmed Makinka’s participation in the program through a post on social media, featuring a snapshot of him alongside South African coach Eric Tinkler. Tinkler, a former Bafana Bafana player, is currently the coach of Cape Town City in the South Africa Premier Soccer League.
The meeting between Makinka and Tinkler occurred on the sidelines of the CAF A Diploma course held in Johannesburg. Nkwazi expressed its commitment to enhancing the skills of its staff by enrolling Makinka in this eight-month-long program, structured into four phases of two months each.
Notably, this initiative aligns with the club’s dedication to building capacity within its coaching staff. In the past, Red Arrows boss Chisi Mbewe completed the same course in Tanzania, earning a CAF A licence, while Beauty Mwamba of Green Buffaloes Women Football Club recently finished a high-level CAF Instructors coaching program in Rabat, Morocco. Mwamba had previously obtained her CAF A coaching badge alongside Charles Haalubono, coach of Yanga Princesses, and Enala Phiri-Simbeye.
It’s worth highlighting that a CAF A License, or its equivalent, is mandatory for coaches managing clubs participating in CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup tournaments.
