Lungu becomes ZESCO United’s first signing of the season
Zambia Super League reigning Champions ZESCO United have confirmed the acquisition of winger Edward Lungu from Kitwe United.
Edward becomes ZESCO United’s first signing of the season since the Ndola based league giants won their ninth league title.
The 19-year-old winger was one of the inspirational players for Kitwe based relegated side Kitwe United last season.
Lungu whose roots in the game stem as far as Eastern province is determined to become one of the country’s star players.
“I want to succeed here so that one day I get to play in Europe. ZESCO United is the biggest club in Zambia and it is every player’s wish to play for this team. Any player who plays here should be aiming to go and play abroad afterwards,” Lungu said.
Lungu who once featured for National Assembly before being prized away by Kitwe’s Buchi Boys has his eyes firmly set on winning titles for ZESCO United.
ZESCO United coach Numba Mumamba will be elated to work with the talented young winger having secured his league title with the club with massive support from young players.
Lungu will join a pack of fine and promising young stars like Enock Sakala, Luwawa Kasoma, Mukuka Chanda, Samuel Sikaonga, John Chishimba, and Samuel Mkandawire.
The former Kitwe United winger will tomorrow be expected to join the ZESCO United squad that started preseason preparations this week.
