Kamanga Inspects Kaole Stadium Ahead of 2025 Handover

Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) president Andrew Kamanga conducted a site visit to the FIFA-funded Kaole Stadium in Luapula Province to assess progress on the long-awaited project.

Accompanied by FAZ Provincial Chairman Mweemba Mujala and other provincial executives, Kamanga noted that construction had been delayed due to persistent load shedding, which hindered the availability of water for critical tasks like grass maintenance.

The Kaole Stadium, one of four FIFA-funded facilities in Zambia, is nearing completion. Similar projects, including the David Kaunda and Independence stadia in Solwezi, have already been handed over to their respective communities.

“Despite the delays, we’re pleased with the progress,” said Kamanga. “The seating area has been expanded from nine to 28 rows, while the grandstand and perimeter wall are complete.

The main challenge remains water, but we’re optimistic that with adequate rainfall and ongoing work on the borehole, the grass will be ready soon. We aim to finalize the remaining patches in the coming weeks and proceed with the handover.”

Kamanga emphasized the importance of local oversight, urging the leadership to ensure contractors deliver quality work.

Provincial Chairman Mweemba Mujala expressed optimism about the project’s timeline. “We expect the stadium to be handed over to the community in the first quarter of 2025,” he said.

“We call on the community to safeguard this facility and avoid vandalism. It’s a valuable resource for everyone in Luapula Province.”

Once completed, Kaole Stadium will provide a vital platform for sports and community development in the region.
