Joseph Banda Set to Formally Join FC Zurich in the Upcoming Month

Zambian prodigy Joseph ‘Sabobo’ Banda is set to officially join FC Zürich in Switzerland next month. Celebrating his 18th birthday on December 17th, Banda will formalize his contract with the 13-time Swiss Super League Champions.

Currently on a short-term loan at Nkwazi from Atletico Lusaka until the upcoming month, Banda showcased his scoring prowess for the Zambia Police-sponsored team. He marked his debut in the MTN Super League on November 8th by netting a goal, contributing to Nkwazi ending FC MUZA’s 17-match unbeaten run.

Having served as the captain of the Zambia U-17 National team, Banda previously impressed during his time with Zurich’s youth side in the FIFA Youth Cup. Additionally, he underwent a month-long trial with Spanish giants FC Barcelona last year.

Sabobo’s prolific goal-scoring record includes 11 goals across three COSAFA U-17 Championships and a remarkable 15 goals, making him the top scorer in the 2020/2021 FAZ Lusaka Provincial Division One League.
