Reigning champions Green Buffaloes Women Football Club are geared up and ready to compete in the upcoming CAF Women’s Champions | COSAFA Qualifiers in South Africa. The team departed from Kenneth Kaunda International Airport in Lusaka, boarding a South African Airways flight to embark on their title defense journey.

Green Buffaloes Women FC’s campaign will begin with a match against Double Action Ladies on August 30 at the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium in Durban. This opening encounter will mark the start of their efforts to retain their championship status in the highly anticipated tournament.

Their schedule continues with a match against Malawian champions Ntopwa FC two days later, followed by a showdown against Lesotho Defense Force on September 4, 2023. The team’s head coach, Charles Haalubono, has prepared his roster for these challenges, aiming to secure victories and advance further in the competition.

In preparation for the COSAFA Qualifiers, Green Buffaloes Women FC has made strategic additions to their squad. They have signed winger Xiomara Mapepa and midfielder Comfort Selemani on loan from Elite Ladies FC. Additionally, the team has brought in Esther Banda (BUSA) and Nkwazi FC’s goalkeeper Eunice Sakala and striker Eneless Phiri. Goalkeeper Ngambo Musole and striker Natasha Nanyangwe, who has recovered from injury, have also joined the traveling squad.

The tournament format features a round-robin style, where teams in each pool will compete against each other. The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals.
