Grant Expresses Pride in Chipolopolo

Zambia’s National Soccer Team Head Coach, Avram Grant, expressed his pride in his players despite the Chipolopolo experiencing a first-round exit at the ongoing Total Energies AFCON 2023 tournament in Cote D’Ivoire.
Grant attributed yesterday’s 1-0 loss to Morocco to a lack of experience and the team’s failure to be clinical in front of the goal. Speaking at a post-match press conference after the team’s elimination, Grant acknowledged the challenges faced.

In response, Chipolopolo Captain Lubambo Musonda stated that the team would put in extra effort to work hard and secure qualification for the next year’s AFCON tournament.
Chipolopolo winger Klings Kangwa, while expressing disappointment with the team’s first-round exit, emphasized that the squad had gained valuable lessons from the tournament.

Moroccan defender Sofyan Amrabat, who was named Man of the Match, described Zambia as a formidable opponent in the concluding Group F fixture, despite Morocco’s victory. Despite the loss, Amrabat acknowledged the difficulty of the match against Zambia.

Notably, scores of Ivorian fans, many donned in Moroccan replica shirts, filled the streets of San Pedro following Zambia’s defeat to Morocco. The Ivorian team qualified for the round of 16 as one of the third-best-placed teams in the tournament.
