FIFA Envoy Concludes Fact-Finding Mission, Final Decision Pending

The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has announced that FIFA has concluded its fact-finding mission in Zambia, with the envoy now returning to Zurich for a final decision on the Zambian case.

Gelson Fernandes, Director of Member Associations, was dispatched by FIFA to investigate the incident that led to the cancellation of the FAZ Annual General Meeting (AGM).

FAZ President Andrew Kamanga highlighted FIFA’s displeasure with the aborted AGM, which is a constitutional requirement for football governance.

FIFA expressed particular concern about the involvement of non-members who escalated football matters to court.

“The chaos created by the aborted AGM includes the non-approval of the 2024-25 budget by the council, which is a significant setback in the management of our game,” said Kamanga.

He added that the association will await FIFA’s guidance on the next steps to restore normalcy in Zambian football.
