FAZ Pays Tribute to Late Former CAF President Issa Hayatou

The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has expressed deep sorrow following the passing of Issa Hayatou, the former President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

Hayatou, who served as CAF President for nearly three decades, played a pivotal role in the development and promotion of football across the African continent.

FAZ President, Andrew Kamanga, extended heartfelt condolences on behalf of the Zambian football community. He acknowledged Hayatou’s immense contributions to the growth of African football and his lasting legacy in the sport.

“His leadership and vision were instrumental in elevating African football to global prominence,” Kamanga said. “We join the rest of the continent in mourning the loss of a great leader and football pioneer.”

Hayatou’s tenure at CAF was marked by numerous achievements, including the expansion of the Africa Cup of Nations and the strengthening of CAF’s influence within global football.

His passing is a significant loss to the football fraternity, and his contributions will be remembered for generations to come.

FAZ has urged all football stakeholders in Zambia to honor Hayatou’s memory by continuing to work towards the development of the sport in the country and the continent at large.
