Fashion Sakala’s Full Effort Not Enough as Al-Fayha Suffers Defeat Against Al Hilal

In a hard-fought battle, Zambian international striker Fashion Sakala displayed commendable effort for Al-Fayha FC, but his endeavors couldn’t prevent the team from succumbing to a 2-0 defeat against league leaders Al Hilal in the Saudi Pro League on Friday.

Al-Fayha, facing a challenging period with a five-game losing streak, began the match on a positive note, managing to keep Al Hilal at bay in the first half.

However, their aspirations for a favorable result were shattered in the closing stages of the game. Ali Albulayhi broke the deadlock for Al Hilal with just four minutes remaining, followed by a late penalty confidently converted by former Newcastle United and Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrović, who increased his league goal tally to an impressive 17.

Despite Al-Fayha‘s struggles, Fashion Sakala, the team’s leading scorer with seven goals and three assists, continued to pose a constant threat. However, he was unable to add to his goal tally against the formidable league leaders. The defeat further extends the gap between Al Hilal and second-placed Al-Nassr, featuring Cristiano Ronaldo in its ranks, to a substantial 10 points.

With domestic league action on hold until February, Sakala’s immediate focus will shift to international duty. He is set to join the Zambian national team as they relocate to Saudi Arabia for the final preparations ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations tournament, scheduled to commence on January 13th in Ivory Coast.

Sakala’s contributions will be closely watched as Zambia aims for a strong showing in the prestigious continental competition.
