Elite Ladies Plan FIFA Appeal Regarding Mapepa’s Transfer
Elite Ladies Football Club has announced its intention to contact FIFA regarding the alleged unauthorized transfer of striker Xiomara Mapepa. According to Elite Ladies’ Chief Executive Officer Oliver Shalala, Mapepa is under contract with the club until May 31, 2025, and is not a free agent.
Shalala stated that there is no record of Mapepa’s contract termination, as the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) did not inform the club of any such action. He explained that Mapepa’s move to Turkey could only have occurred if she had been granted temporary registration pending a decision on her status.
The player has been inactive due to a suspension for substance abuse following her last match for the club. Shalala noted that FAZ is aware of this suspension and has called on the association to clarify how the transfer was allowed to proceed without the club’s knowledge.
In response, FAZ General Secretary Reuben Kamanga stated that the association is working with all parties involved, including the club and FIFA, to resolve the matter.
