Copper Queens Touch Down in Kampala for Olympic Qualifier
The Copper Queens have safely arrived in Kampala, Uganda, ahead of Thursday’s first-leg Olympic qualifier against the hosts.
The Zambia Senior Women’s National Team landed at Entebbe International Airport at exactly 02:44 aboard a RwandAir flight after leaving Lusaka on Sunday afternoon and connecting through Kigali, Rwanda.
Interim head coach Charles Haalubono travelled with 17 locally based players as the team began its preparations for the important assignment.
The remaining eight foreign-based players are expected to join the squad in Uganda, bringing the total number of players to the 25 named for the Olympic qualifying campaign.
With the team now in Kampala, attention turns to preparations for Thursday’s first-leg encounter against Uganda. The coaching staff will look to use the available training sessions to prepare the players for what is expected to be a competitive fixture.
The Copper Queens will be aiming to secure a positive result away from home before the return leg, as they continue their pursuit of Olympic qualification.
The team is expected to get straight to work following its arrival, with preparations now fully focused on Thursday’s encounter.
