Copper Princesses Camp Ahead of FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup

The Copper Princesses have arrived in Rabat, Morocco, ahead of their international camp as preparations intensify for the U-17 FIFA Women’s World Cup, which kicks off on October 17.

The Zambian team touched down at Rabat–Salé Airport at 08:50 local time before proceeding to Casablanca, where they will continue preparations for their opening international friendly against China on October 9.

Coach Carol Kanyemba has selected a 21-player squad for the tournament, including England-based defender Jessica Johnson, who is on the books of Aston Villa.

Zambia has been drawn in Group D alongside France, Japan and Venezuela, with the top two teams from the group advancing to the next stage of the competition.

The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has organised a 10-day international camp featuring at least two international friendly matches as part of the team’s preparations for the tournament, which will run from October 17 to November 7.

FAZ Deputy General Secretary Iva Lengwe and Western Province Women Representative Theresa Lyainga are also part of the delegation in Morocco.

The team will now focus on its preparations in Casablanca, beginning with the China friendly as Zambia builds toward the World Cup.
