Copper Queens Climb to 65th in FIFA Women’s World Rankings
The Zambia Women’s National Team has climbed five places in the latest Coca-Cola FIFA World Rankings.
Their focus has been on qualifying for the Olympic Women’s Football Tournament Paris 2024, a goal shared by national teams in the OFC, UEFA, and AFC in the first quarter of the year.
Additionally, the 2024 West Asian Football Federation Women’s Championship and the 2024 Concacaf W Gold Cup have been ongoing. The Copper Queens now sit 65th in the rankings, up from 70th in December 2023. Their advancement comes after defeating Ghana 4-3 on aggregate in the third round of the 2024 Paris Olympics qualifiers last month.
Spain continues to lead the FIFA/Coca-Cola Women’s World Ranking, extending their lead over second-place England. France, despite losing to Spain in the UEFA Nations League final, holds onto third place globally.
The USA, despite winning the Concacaf championship on March 10, has dropped to fourth place after a 2-0 group-phase defeat to Mexico. Germany has moved into the top 5, with Brazil returning to the top 10 alongside Sweden, Japan, the Netherlands, and Canada.
Mexico and Slovenia are the highest climbers in the top 50, while Zambia, Puerto Rico, Kosovo, and Solomon Islands have achieved their highest-ever points totals, with the latter making the biggest jump of all after wins over American Samoa, Fiji, and Samoa.
The World Ranking now includes a record 193 national teams, with Iraq being the latest addition. Six more teams are one official match away from joining, namely Chad, Djibouti, Eritrea, Gibraltar, Libya, and Sudan.
