Comfort Selemani Joins Green Buffaloes Women on Short-Term Loan Deal
Comfort Selemani has left The Elite Ladies FC for Green Buffaloes Women’s Football Club on a short-term loan deal that lasts through August 28, 2024. This loan arrangement is specifically for the COSAFA (Council of Southern Africa Football Associations) qualifiers for the CAF Women’s Football Champions’ League.
The K15,000 loan agreement does not cover local ZPL league games during this period. However, if Green Buffaloes qualify for the CAF Champions League competition, Selemani’s loan will be extended at an additional cost to cover the continental showpiece. This extension will also exclude local games, as she is expected to play for The Elite Ladies FC in domestic competitions.
Several local clubs, including ZANACO, ZESCO, and Green Buffaloes, expressed interest in Selemani, known as “the Destroyer.” However, only ZANACO and ZESCO submitted formal bids, with ZANACO placing the highest bid. Despite this, both offers fell short of what The Elite Ladies FC were willing to accept for the versatile attacking midfielder and right wingback.
Given that Selemani is free to leave the club upon receiving a suitable offer from outside the country, the loan agreement with the Buffaloes appears to be the player’s best option at this time as she awaits stronger offers from clubs abroad.
