Chipolopolo Receives Boost as Frankie Musonda Makes a Comeback from Injury

Defender Frankie Chisenga Musonda made a comeback from injury, contributing to Ayr United’s Scottish Cup campaign. Musonda played a pivotal role in Ayr United’s 2-1 extra-time triumph over Peterhead, propelling them into the fourth round.

The 26-year-old had been grappling with a persistent injury throughout the season, managing to make seven appearances for Ayr United in various competitions. Unfortunately, this ailment led to his absence from Zambia’s previous four matches during the October and November international break.

Musonda’s return is a timely boost for the Chipolopolo squad as they prepare for the African Cup of Nations scheduled for January 2024 in Ivory Coast. Since his debut in 2022, Musonda has already earned 10 caps, showcasing his growing influence in the national team.

Zambia finds itself placed in Group H alongside DR Congo, Tanzania, and Morocco for the upcoming tournament, and Musonda’s presence adds valuable depth to the team’s defensive lineup
