Chipolopolo Receive Grand Welcome In Nairobi

The Zambian community in Nairobi rolled the red carpet for the Chipolopolo as they touched down at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport on Saturday night.
Despite the chilly temperatures of Nairobi, a host of energetic young Zambians, largely students, lit up the atmosphere as they joined some energetic Masai warriors to display the gravity defying acrobatic dances indigenous to Kenya.
Even ordinary passengers could not resist joining in the Zambia-esque atmosphere to loudly announce the arrival of the Chipolopolo.
Zambia High Commissioner to Kenya Alfred Musemuna said the Zambian community would give the team maximum support.
“We are very happy to see fellow Zambians; we commit ourselves to support you in whichever way you desire,” Musemuna said.
“My friends and the Zambian community are more than ready to give you whatever support you desire. There is no other gift that you can honour us other than taking this trophy back home. We have agreed with the host country Kenya that they will be supporting us but the only challenge will come when we shall meet them.”
FAZ vice president Mutale Ng’andu thanked the Zambian mission for the warm welcome and support.
N’gandu said the team would work hard to ensure that they reciprocated the support with good results.
In delivering a vote of thanks, Kabaso Chongo, who spoke on behalf of the players said the players were motivated by the warm welcome by the Zambians in Nairobi.
Zambia is in Group A alongside Kenya, Morocco, Angola and DR Congo.
The 2009 bronze winners will kick off their campaign on August 7 against DR Congo before facing Angola three days later.
The match day three fixture will be against Morocco before concluding with a tasty tie with hosts Kenya on August 17.
