Celtic Urged To Pursue Patson Daka In The January Transfer Window
Celtic is being advised to target Leicester City striker Patson Daka in the upcoming January transfer window. Despite Daka’s struggles for playing time at Leicester, concerns have been raised about Celtic’s financial ability to secure the move.
The Zambian international, who previously flourished with 15 goals in his initial two seasons at Leicester, has found limited opportunities under manager Enzo Maresca. A proposed loan deal to Bournemouth during the summer fell through, and Daka has seen minimal action, making only two brief appearances from the bench.
Now, under the management of Brendan Rodgers, who brought Daka to Leicester in 2021, Celtic is exploring options to reinforce their attacking lineup. However, pundit Chris Sutton acknowledges the financial challenges Celtic faces in acquiring Daka.
“I look at someone like Patson Daka, who isn’t playing much for Leicester City in the Championship. He scored a lot of goals for Red Bull Salzburg and would be a perfect fit,” commented Sutton in the Daily Record. “However, there’s no way Celtic could afford him unless it was a loan deal with Leicester being generous with the wage split. They operate in a different market, and that’s where it becomes difficult for Rodgers.”
Daka showcased his goal-scoring prowess during the recent international break with Zambia, contributing significantly to their World Cup qualifying campaign.
