CAF Announces 2025 AFCON Dates in Morocco
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) and FIFA have reportedly finalized plans to hold the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco during the summer months of July and August. This decision comes after discussions to avoid overlap with FIFA’s expanded Club World Cup in North America.
According to an AFP report, a CAF official, speaking on condition of anonymity, stated, “This agreement was found with the support of FIFA after talks that began several months ago and which intensified during the last edition which finished this month in Ivory Coast.”
The proposed dates for the tournament are July 20 to August 16 or 17, 2025. This adjustment reflects CAF’s commitment to adapt to changing circumstances and ensure optimal conditions for the tournament.
Preparations for the 2025 AFCON are underway, with qualifying matches set to commence soon. Additionally, plans for the 2027 Cup of Nations involve joint hosting by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.
The announcement brings clarity to the scheduling of future AFCON tournaments and underscores the collaboration between CAF and FIFA to enhance the organization and success of African football events.
