Buffaloes Continue Unbeaten Run with Convincing Win Over Police Dove Queens

Green Buffaloes Women’s Football Club extended their unbeaten streak to 28 games this season with a dominant 5-0 victory over Police Dove Queens in a rescheduled week 25 match in Solwezi.

The defending champions wasted no time asserting their dominance, with Maylan Mulenga and Agness Phiri each scoring twice, along with a goal from Vanessa Chikupira, all in the first half.

Mulenga opened the scoring in the 27th minute, finishing off a brilliant pass from Evarine Susan Katongo. She then doubled the lead just two minutes later with a close-range finish after Police Dove Queens failed to clear a corner kick from Maweta Chilenga. Chikupira made it 3-0 with a fine finish after being set up by Martha Katila Banda.

Phiri took over the scoring spree with a close-range finish and a well-timed first-time shot from a Chilenga pass, extending Buffaloes’ lead to 5-0 before halftime.

Despite a more spirited performance from the hosts in the second half, they were unable to breach Buffaloes’ resilient defense.

The win sees Buffaloes regain their 3-point lead at the top of the table, moving to 74 points with six games remaining. They have won 23 games and drawn five out of 28 played so far.

Next up for Green Buffaloes is a match against Green Eagles, while ZESCO Ndola Girls will take on National Assembly.
