Barbra Banda Recognized in FIFPro Women’s CAF XI

In a historic ceremony held in Morocco, Nigeria and FC Barcelona forward Asisat Oshoala secured the CAF Women’s Player of the Year award for a remarkable sixth time. Oshoala’s sustained excellence and impactful performances for Barcelona, including their Champions League triumph, propelled her to this record-breaking achievement. Despite facing tough competition, she edged past Zambian star Barbra Banda and South African striker Thembi Kgatlana.

Barbra Banda, who had a phenomenal year, scoring 32 goals for both club and country, missed out on the top honor. However, she received well-deserved recognition by being named in the FIFPro Women’s CAF XI. This acknowledgment highlights Banda’s crucial role in Zambia’s success, including an impressive World Cup campaign and qualification for the WAFCON.

While Oshoala claimed the title this time, the recognition of Banda in the FIFPro Women’s CAF XI underlines her potential and establishes her as one of the rising stars in African football. At 23 years old, Banda remains a strong contender for future accolades, provided she maintains her exceptional form.
