Barbra Banda excited to kick off her journey with Orlando Pride
Barbra Banda has expressed her excitement and eagerness to get started following her move to the United States of America. The Copper Queens captain has joined Orlando Pride in the USA National Women’s Soccer League on a four-year deal.
Banda’s transfer fee of $740,000 makes her the second most expensive female football player in history, behind her teammate Rachel Kundananji. This signing marks one of the largest all-in investments on a player in National Women’s Soccer League history.
Pending the receipt of her P-1 Visa and International Transfer Certificate (ITC), Banda will join the Pride, stating, “I am very excited to join Orlando Pride. It’s a great club, and I love what they’re building. The National Women’s Soccer League is one of the most competitive and strongest leagues in the world, so it’s very humbling to get a chance to play in it.”
She added, “Since my first meeting with the club and the General Manager, I knew this was a club I wanted to join. I can’t wait to meet my new teammates and start working with them. I hope to help the team in my small capacity to do great things and win a lot of trophies together.”
Banda is expected to be one of the highest-paid players in the National Women’s Soccer League, with her deal including a number of incentives and bonuses, making it one of the biggest investments in women’s football.
