Barbra Banda Completes the Puzzle, Says Marta

Orlando Pride legend Marta is impressed with Barbra Banda’s all-around contribution to the team’s 14-match unbeaten streak.

The Zambian star scored twice, bringing her league-leading tally to 10 goals in 10 matches.

Orlando Pride maintained their undefeated record with a 6-0 victory over the Utah Royals on Friday night in the National Women’s Soccer League.

Marta also scored a pair of goals for the Pride, who now sit atop the league standings with 32 points.

“She works so hard, both in defense and offense,” Marta said. “We know how fast she is, and we need to work to put the ball in the right space for her.”

Reflecting on Banda’s impact, Marta added, “A couple of years ago, we created a lot of chances but didn’t have that player to finish the service.

This year, with her presence, it opens more space for other players. She scored two goals today, but we had a lot of other chances from other players.

It’s a collective effort, and we’re happy to have her here. I hope she keeps doing what she’s doing.”
