Banyana Banyana Triumph As Three Nations Series Champions After 2-0 Win Over Zambia

South Africa’s women’s national team, Banyana Banyana, claimed the Three Nations Series trophy after strong wins over Botswana (3-2) and Zambia (Copper Queens) (2-0) at Lucas Moripe Stadium.
The tournament served as key preparation for the upcoming WAFCON qualifiers, with coach Desiree Ellis testing squad depth and tactics. Despite flu sidelining several players, stand-in captain Lebohang Ramalepe led the team to a disciplined 2-0 victory over Zambia, earning Player of the Match honors.
“It was tough with players missing, but the fight we showed was incredible,” Ramalepe said. “The unity in this team is special—we played for each other.” She also praised the growing fan support, calling it a motivating factor.
Ellis highlighted tactical execution and squad versatility: “We stuck to the plan, pressed well, and saw great performances from returning players like Bambanani Mbane and Refiloe Jane. Experimenting with positions helps us build options for WAFCON.”
Unbeaten in the series, Banyana now shift focus to the qualifiers with boosted confidence.
