Avram Grant expresses frustration over the draw with Tanzania
Zambia’s head coach, Avram Grant, expressed his disappointment following their draw against Tanzania on Sunday in the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Côte d’Ivoire 2023.
Grant’s team managed to secure a late equalizer to salvage a point from the match, but he was unimpressed with their overall performance, despite acknowledging the strength of the Tanzanian team.
“We are disappointed with the result. We knew it wouldn’t be an easy match, especially after observing Tanzania’s performance against Morocco. Although we started well, conceding a goal early on changed our tactics, especially after the red card,” Grant stated.
The former 2015 TotalEnergies CAF AFCON finalist admitted that playing with 10 men for a significant part of the game had a noticeable impact on his team.
“Playing with ten players is challenging, but I’m pleased with the boys’ reaction. They gave everything to stage a comeback.”
Looking ahead, Zambia has another challenging match against Morocco, the 2022 FIFA World Cup semi-finalists and favorites. Grant and his team are gearing up for the upcoming fixture as they strive to make a stronger impact in the tournament.
