ABSA Cup Expansion Announced Alongside 37.5% Sponsorship Increase

The 2024 ABSA Cup introduces an exciting new format featuring ten teams from the provinces. Celebrating 17 years of the tournament, ABSA Bank Zambia and the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) have announced that this year’s competition will include 21 teams.

During the tournament’s launch at ABSA headquarters in Lusaka, it was revealed that the sponsorship package has been increased to K5.5 million, a 37.5 percent increase from last year’s K4 million.

The expanded format will include ten provincial champions, four teams from the National Division One, and seven from the MTN Super League.

Additionally, Zamtel has taken on the sponsorship of the Man of the Match awards. The winners of the 2024 ABSA Cup will receive K800,000, while the runners-up will get K350,000. The player of the tournament, top goalscorer, and best goalkeeper will each receive K25,000, sponsored by ABSA Life.

In the preliminary stage, the player of the match will be awarded K5,000, increasing to K15,000 from the quarter-final stage onwards.

ABSA also announced that travel subsidies for participating teams will range from K15,000 to K30,000.
