FAZ Suspends Buildcon from National Division One League Due to Statute Breaches
The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has taken the decision to suspend National Division One team Buildcon from participating in the league for the 2023/24 season. This action comes as a result of multiple breaches of FAZ and FIFA statutes, as confirmed by a statement from Football House.
Buildcon had already faced various sanctions and had been deregistered from the FIFA registration system due to their repeated violations of player transfer and remuneration rules. Despite being relegated to the National Division One league after the previous season, their ongoing infractions have led to this suspension.
Reuben Kamanga, the FAZ General Secretary, emphasized that Buildcon’s suspension was a consequence of their failure to adhere to both FAZ and FIFA regulations. He pointed out specific breaches of Article 13 and 18 of the FAZ constitution, which outline member obligations.
Kamanga highlighted that while preparations for the upcoming 2023/24 season are progressing well, the fulfillment of club licensing requirements by member clubs is still a concern. He also stressed that FAZ would take a strong stance against any incidents of hooliganism within stadiums.
The 2023/24 football season is scheduled to commence on August 12, featuring the Carling Black Label Charity Shield match between Power Dynamos and Forest Rangers at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola. FAZ will determine if a replacement team will be added to the league in place of Buildcon.
