Copper Queens Visits The FIFA World Football Museum in Switzerland Ahead the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup

The Zambia Women’s National Team, known as the Copper Queens, made a special visit to the FIFA World Football Museum during their European camp in Zurich, Switzerland. The museum, created by FIFA, showcases the rich history of football from around the world.

Led by museum staff, the Copper Queens embarked on a guided tour, starting with the captivating “Planet football” exhibit, which is located prominently at the entrance of the museum. This section features a circular cabinet called the “rainbow,” displaying jerseys from all 211 FIFA member nations, including Zambia. During the visit, team captain Barbra Banda had the honor of presenting a new set of Zambia’s KoPa kit to replace the one currently on display.

Among the memorabilia showcased at the museum was Banda’s iconic jersey number 11, worn during Zambia’s debut at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. The team expressed gratitude to FIFA and the FIFA Museum for the enlightening tour, emphasizing how it served as motivation ahead of the upcoming World Cup. Banda expressed pride in Zambia’s inclusion in the exhibition, spanning from their admission to FIFA to the jerseys and other significant items on display.

Excitement filled the air as the Copper Queens caught a glimpse of the FIFA World Cup trophy, along with the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup trophy, which will be awarded to this year’s champions. The team felt fortunate to have the opportunity to explore the museum and witness the rich football history preserved within its walls.

The visit to the FIFA World Football Museum in Zurich served as an inspiration for the Copper Queens, reinforcing their connection to the global football community and providing an extra boost as they prepare for the World Cup.
