CAF confirms Official Dates For The Africa Cup Of Nations Cote d’Ivoire 2023
he dates for the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations Cote d’Ivoire 2023 have been officially announced by CAF.
The tournament will commence with the opening match on Saturday, 13 January 2024, at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium in Ebimpe, Abidjan, and will conclude on 11 February 2024, after a four-week duration.
This will mark the 34th edition of the tournament and will return to Cote d’Ivoire for the second time, after it was first hosted there in 1984, where Cameroon emerged as winners.
With the TotalEnergies AFCON 2023 Qualifiers nearing their end, the top 24 African nations are gearing up for the continent’s biggest football event.
Following the latest round of qualifiers, four countries, namely Algeria, Morocco, South Africa, and African champions, Senegal, secured their place in the tournament, joining the hosts, Cote d’Ivoire.
CAF’s General Secretary, Veron Mosengo-Omba, confirmed that the Final Draw of the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations 2023 Cote d’Ivoire will be held in September 2023. The date and venue for the same will be confirmed in due course.
Zambia is chasing qualification to the continental showpiece, currently sitting second on nine points, one point behind Cote D’Ivoire in Group H, with two games left to be played.
The next AFCON qualifier matches will be in June 2023, where Chipolopolo will host the Elephants, while already eliminated Lesotho will face third-placed Comoros.
