Copper Queens Face Brazil In Their Last Match Of Group F

Copper Queens will face Brazil in their last match of group F, at Saitama stadium this afternoon and will be seeking to end it with a victory.

Bruce Mwape’s side currently lie fourth in Group F with a point but a win against the Selecao could see them finish as one of the two best third-placed teams and earn a place in the quarterfinals of the tournament.

After going down 10-3 at the hands of Netherlands in the opener, the Barbara Banda inspired Copper Queens put up an impressive display to draw 4-4 with 15th ranked China at Miyagi stadium in the second Group F match.

Mwape has enough ammunition to release against a Marta led Brazil who are on four points having recorded a 5-0 win over China and a 3-3 draw against Netherlands.

Having rung three changes in the game against the Asians, Mwape looks set to make some changes again as all players in his contingent are eligible for the final Group F game.

Hazel Nali, Musole N’gambo and Catherine Musonda are vying for the number one spot while Martha Tembo, Margaret Belemu, Lushomo Mweemba, Agness Musesa and Esther Siamfuko could start at the back although there is stiff competition from Anita Mulenga and Fikile Khosa.

In the middle of the park Mwape will be looking to line up Mary Wilombe, Ireen Lungu and Avell Chitundu with the creative role falling on any of the following troops Esther Namukwasa, Susan Katongo while the attacking options will be left to history maker Barbara Banda and the forceful Rachael Kundananji, who got a debut goal in her first appearance at the Olympics against China.

Grace Chanda, Ochumba Oseke and Hellen Mubanga could lead the attack as Zambia seeks to make a historic last eight appearance at one of the biggest football stage.

Kick-off is at 13:30 hours CAT and the match will be live on the La Liga/Olympics Channel 3 on Supersport.

In the other Group F fixture, Netherlands will take aim at China as they seek to close the group campaign with their second win in three matches.
