COSAFA U17 Girls’ Final: Zambia To Battle Malawi For Title

Defending champions Zambia will face Malawi in the highly anticipated final of the 2025 COSAFA U17 Girls’ Championship on Saturday, following their semi-final triumphs in Windhoek, Namibia.
Malawi secured their historic first-ever final appearance with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Mozambique in the second semi-final at Hage Geingob Stadium. The decisive moment came in the 84th minute, as Talandira Kachala netted the match-winner, propelling the young Scorchers into uncharted territory.
Earlier, Zambia stormed into their fifth consecutive final with a dominant 5-1 win over Zimbabwe in a thrilling Zambezi derby. The Copper Princesses showcased their attacking prowess with goals from Natasha Kasema (brace), Hellen Misozi Banda, Grace Phiri, and Beatrice Njobvu, underlining their status as tournament favorites.
Zambia now eyes a record-extending third COSAFA U17 title, having previously triumphed in 2021 and 2024. Meanwhile, Malawi—whose best finish was a 2022 bronze medal on home soil—will look to make history by claiming their maiden championship.
The final kicks off at 14:00 at Hage Geingob Stadium, preceded by the third-place playoff between Zimbabwe and Mozambique at 11:00.
