Nkwazi Eyes Chiyangi; Mphande on Standby

Aggrey Chiyangi is currently in talks with Nkwazi about potentially becoming the head coach at Edwin Imboela Stadium, according to the ZamFoot Crew.

Nkwazi, seeking a new coach following Dennis Makinka’s departure to Nkana to serve as Ian Bakala’s assistant, has also been linked with Albert Mphande.

However, player concerns have shifted management’s focus toward Chiyangi.

Chiyangi has been out of work for nearly 15 months and is expected to be joined on the technical staff by Rotson Kilambe.

He began his coaching career at Chambishi, leading them to the 2007 Barclays Cup final against Zesco United. Chiyangi had a successful tenure at Green Eagles and also had a stint with Zanaco.

His most recent role was with Nchanga Rangers, from which he was dismissed in May 2023 after just four months.

On the international stage, Chiyangi led Zambia to victory in the 2019 Cosafa Cup.

As a player, he achieved multiple titles with his boyhood club Power Dynamos, including the Mandela Cup, and played in the 1994 African Cup of Nations final against Nigeria.
