FAZ President Andrew Kamanga Welcomes Back the Copper Queens
The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) President, Andrew Kamanga, has officially welcomed the Copper Queens back from their recent Olympic campaign. In a statement, Kamanga expressed both admiration and hope for the team’s future despite their group stage exit.
In addition to this warm welcome, FAZ has been engaged in a national team selection exercise, featuring a face-off between provincial select players and the All Stars squad at Nkoloma Stadium. This initiative is part of FAZ’s ongoing effort to identify and nurture local football talent. Kamanga highlighted the importance of this gradual process, emphasizing the continued commitment to the structured grassroots program.
“We are happy with the progress made so far,” said Kamanga. “However, it is important to recognize that this is a gradual process. Our structured grassroots program remains intact, and we are committed to identifying and sustaining talent.”
Regarding the Copper Queens, Kamanga acknowledged their recent Olympic performance. “We are disappointed with the group stage elimination, but we remain hopeful that the team will bounce back. We expect them to rise again and make Zambia proud.”
FAZ continues to support and invest in football development at all levels, with a clear focus on both the immediate and long-term goals for Zambian football.
