Nkandu Calls for Overhaul of Copper Queens’ Technical Bench

Sports Minister Elvis Nkandu has called for a complete overhaul of the Copper Queens’ technical bench following the team’s early exit from the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Nkandu, the former chairman of Zanama FC, believes changes are also necessary in the midfield and defense. “From a personal standpoint, I think an overhaul is needed, especially in the midfield, defense, and even the technical bench,” he stated. “I won’t hide that; it’s my personal opinion.”

The Copper Queens exited the #Paris2024Olympics without securing a win. They lost 3-0 to the USA in their opening match, followed by a heartbreaking 6-5 defeat to Australia.

In their final game, Germany handed Bruce Mwape’s team a 4-1 defeat.

The Copper Queens aim to redeem themselves at the upcoming Women’s African Cup of Nations in Morocco.
