Zambia Women’s Team Remains Hopeful for Quarterfinals After Loss to USA

Zambia Women’s National Team coach Bruce Mwape remains optimistic about the Copper Queens’ prospects for reaching the quarterfinals of the Paris 2024 Olympics, despite their recent 3-0 defeat to the USA.
The loss came on Thursday evening as the team faced a tough opponent in the four-time Olympic champions. Despite the scoreline, Mwape believes that the team still has a strong chance to advance, citing their resilience and determination throughout the tournament.

The match proved particularly challenging for Zambia as they played with a numerical disadvantage for over an hour.

The USA’s Mallory Swanson scored twice, while Trinity Rodman added another goal, showcasing their attacking prowess.

Pauline’s red card, which left the Copper Queens with one less player, significantly impacted their ability to compete effectively.

Nonetheless, Mwape remains hopeful, encouraging his team to stay focused and maintain their confidence as they look ahead to their remaining fixtures.
