Copper Queens Receive Empowerment Workshops Ahead of Paris 2024 Olympics

 

Lusaka, Zambia – In preparation for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, the Copper Queens, Zambia’s national women’s football team, recently received a visit from the OYDC Zambia programs team. The delegation, led by Mwange Kampamba, the programs manager, conducted a series of instructional workshops to equip the athletes with essential knowledge and skills.

The sessions encompassed various critical topics, including safe sports practices, the Olympic Values Education Programme (OVEP), and anti-doping awareness. Likemore Mahunje, the OYDC Zambia programs officer, highlighted the importance of athletes being informed about substances that could result in positive doping tests. Richard Mulenga, non-sport programs officer and Chairperson of the National Olympic Committee of Zambia (NOCZ) Athletes Commission, encouraged the athletes to embody the spirit of Olympism and adhere to Olympic values.

Mwange Kampamba also stressed the significance of the team’s safety and well-being during their time in Paris, urging the players to be cautious of their behavior to maintain a positive image.

Supported by the National Olympic Committee of Zambia (NOCZ), these workshops aim to prepare the Copper Queens for a successful and memorable Olympic journey. With this empowerment, the Copper Queens are poised to represent Zambia proudly on the global stage at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
