Silkeborg IF Says Goodbye to Loanee Lubambo Musonda
Silkeborg IF, the 2024 Danish Cup champions, have announced that Zambian skipper Lubambo Musonda’s loan contract will not be extended beyond the summer. Musonda, currently on loan from AC Horsens of the Danish second division until June 30th, is among several players who will be departing the club at the end of the season.
The midfielder made 24 league appearances this season, starting 13 matches and contributing one assist. During his loan spell, he won the Atlantic Cup during the offseason and lifted the Danish Cup with Silkeborg IF earlier this month.
On Monday, ahead of their final home match of the season, the club took to social media to express their gratitude to the departing players, which included Musonda. “Before the kick-off, appreciation was shown for the efforts of Joel Felix, Andreas Poulsen, Lubambo Musonda, Frederik Rieper, and Kasper Kusk – all of whose contracts expire this summer. THANKS for your efforts, boys!”
Musonda entered the match as a second-half substitute for his final home appearance, with Silkeborg already trailing Brøndby IF 2-0. The game ended with the same scoreline.
With his parent club AC Horsens failing to secure promotion to the top flight, it remains to be seen whether the Zambian international will play in the lower division next season or be loaned out again.
