Zambian Midfielder Kings Kangwa Seeks New Club After Belgian Loan
Zambian midfielder Kings Kangwa is reportedly looking for a new club after his loan spell with relegation-threatened Belgian side KV Kortrijk, according to sources close to the player.
Kangwa, who managed 10 appearances and 2 assists in the Belgian league but failed to find the net, could be on the move as his parent club, Serbian giants Red Star Belgrade, is open to offers. Last year, Kangwa was the subject of transfer interest, with the player himself revealing to Nerve Africa that Red Star rejected several bids for him, seeking a higher fee.
However, a loan move to Belgium materialized, and with his loan expiring in June, Kangwa is understood to be hesitant about returning to Serbia due to competition for his position.
“Kangwa is set for a busy transfer window,” a source close to the player said. “He definitely doesn’t want to stay at Kortrijk, who are likely to be relegated, and he’s unsure about Serbia either.” The source added: “Discussions have already begun, and Red Star is willing to consider reasonable offers. We’ll see how things develop, but we should know more soon.”
Despite his lack of goals, Kangwa has played 10 games for Kortrijk and will be hoping to make a significant contribution if they are to avoid relegation in the upcoming two-legged playoff final against Lommel.
