Numba Expects Tough Match Against Arrows in ABSA Cup 2024
Kabwe Warriors head coach Numba Mumamba is bracing for a challenging clash against Red Arrows in the 2024 ABSA Cup final.
After defeating FC MUZA in the semi-finals, Kabwe Warriors secured their spot in the final. Mumamba, speaking at a press conference at ABSA House on Friday morning, stated that his team immediately got back to work after qualifying for the final.
“We got down to work immediately after securing a place in the final. It will be a tough game playing against the incoming MTN Super League Champions,” Numba told the ZamFoot Crew.
“We are very much prepared. In terms of experience, we have combined the young and senior players. It’s a great moment for the team to showcase what they have. I am sure Mundia is eagerly waiting to get on the pitch, wear that armband, and lead his side to victory.”
Regarding social media reports of a Kabwe businessman organizing ten buses to ferry fans to the game, Numba said the move is a big motivation for the team.
“I think, on our part, it’s a great motivation. It tells us that the people of Kabwe are really behind us and doing everything to cheer us, and we will do everything to make sure we make them happy,” he said.
“He (Chisi Mbewe) has all the experience, he has won the league and been in the final before. There is nothing like having pressure. We have the players and technical benches that can handle that pressure. You don’t need to put yourself under pressure,” Numba added.
Godfrey Binga, who sustained an injury in the semi-finals, has recovered and is ready to take part in the final.
Meanwhile, skipper Clement Mundia praised Numba Mumamba, calling him an inspiration for the team after winning the tournament back in 2017 with Zanaco.
“I think, as a player, growing up I always wanted to play at a high level. Sitting here and being captain of Kabwe Warriors is a motivation and an encouragement,” he said.
“We are not under pressure, we have been encouraged and inspired by him. He has won it before. We have prepared adequately and are ready for the match.”
Kick-off at the National Heroes Stadium is set for 15:30.
The winner of this year’s ABSA Cup will pocket K800,000, with K350,000 reserved for second place.
The ABSA Life Player of the Tournament, Top Scorer, and Golden Glove will each receive K25,000.
