WSL: Nkana Queens Make a Strong Return to the Super Division

Nkana Queens marked their return to the Zambian Premier League Super Division with an impressive 5-1 victory over Ntindi Shining Stars in Nakonde. The win came in their final match of the season in the National Division One Northern Region.

Needing a positive result to secure promotion, Nkana faced a tough challenge against Ntindi, who had defeated them 2-1 at the 2022 Play-Offs in Lusaka.

However, goals from Christine ‘Mbesuma’ Kandama, Donas Simaundu (who both scored braces), and Florence Kasonde ensured a convincing win for the Red Queens.

Meanwhile, Nchanga Queens, already confirmed as champions, played a crucial role in the promotion battle. They faced Sporting Doves, who needed a win to secure promotion. However, Nchanga held them to a draw, which, combined with Nkana’s victory, secured Nkana’s promotion.

The celebrations continued for Nkana as their male counterparts, Kalampa, defeated Power Dynamos 2-0 in the Kopala Derby in Ndola. This double victory capped off a successful weekend for the club.

With the season concluded, Nchanga Queens and Nkana Queens will play in the Super Division next season from the Northern Region. Play It Forward Queens and Choma Warriors will join them after qualifying from the Southern Region.
