Ghana’s Black Queens Squad Revealed to Take on Copper Queens
Ghana’s opponent in this month’s Olympic qualifiers third round, Zambia, will face a formidable challenge as Ghana has announced a strong 23-member squad for the upcoming matches.
Head coach Nora Hauptle has predominantly selected foreign-based players, while also including several talented players from the local league. Leading the squad is Charlton Athletic’s Freda Ayisi, a standout player in the team.
Joining Ayisi are key players such as Evelyn Badu, Portia Boakye, Doris Boaduwaa, and Jennifer Cudjoe, all of whom are expected to play crucial roles in the matches.
Goalkeeper Victoria Antwi Adjei returns to the squad to replace the injured Cynthia Konlan Findiib, bringing experience and skill to the team.
The squad also features promising talents like Comfort Yeboah of Ampem Darkoa Ladies, Kerrie McCarthy of Kumasi Sports Academy, and Fidaus Yakubu of Hasaacas Ladies, who have all earned their call-ups.
Maafia Nyame of AS FAR Rabat has received her first call-up, adding depth to the squad.
The Black Queens have been in impressive form, with just one loss in their last eleven matches. They have scored an impressive 34 goals while conceding just two.
The first leg of the qualifiers will take place at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday, February 23, with the return leg in Ndola on Wednesday, February 28, 2024.
