Coach Carol Kanyemba Urges Copper Princesses to Stay Focused Ahead of Tanzania Clash
Coach Carol Kanyemba is leaving no room for complacency as the Copper Princesses gear up for their crucial return leg against Tanzania in Dar es Salaam.
Following their commanding 5-0 victory in the first leg at Nkoloma Stadium just five days ago, Kanyemba is urging her team to maintain their focus and determination heading into Sunday’s match.
Despite holding a promising lead, Kanyemba emphasized the importance of not underestimating their opponents and approaching the match with a clean slate. “The win is not something we are going to keep in mind; we are not carrying this 5-0 with us but starting the match at 0-0. So our focus will now be on the second leg,” she asserted.
Preparations for the match have been meticulous, with the team adapting to the weather conditions in Dar es Salaam. Kanyemba expressed confidence in her technical bench, affirming that they have diligently addressed and rectified the mistakes from the previous game.
“We did every homework that we were supposed to do immediately after our game at home. We worked on the mistakes that we made and we did everything,” she confirmed upon the team’s arrival in Tanzania.
With the stakes high, the winner of Zambia’s tie with Tanzania will advance to face either Uganda or Cameroon in the third round, competing for a coveted spot in the fourth and final phase of the qualifiers.
The U-17 World Cup, scheduled to be hosted by the Dominican Republic from October 16th to November 3rd, 2024, serves as a significant motivation for both teams, amplifying the importance of Sunday’s clash.
