Kabaso Chongo Departs TP Mazembe

TP Mazembe, the renowned club from the Democratic Republic of Congo, has officially announced the departure of Kabaso Chongo, former captain of the Zambian national team, Chipolopolo.
Chongo bids farewell to the Ravens after a remarkable ten-year tenure with the club.
Speculation already surrounds his next destination, with reports linking him to a return to the MTN Super League.

Chongo is poised to join Kabwe Warriors, a prominent team in the MTN Super League, once the league activities recommence. His departure from TP Mazembe comes as his contract concludes on September 30. Aged 32, Chongo leaves behind a legacy marked by significant achievements during his time at the club.
Notably, he contributed to TP Mazembe’s triumphs in the Champions League (2015), as well as clinching two Confederation Cup titles (2016 and 2017) and securing five Congolese championship titles.

Initially scouted during the Brazil-Zambia friendly match in China on October 15, 2013, Chongo joined TP Mazembe as a right-back in 2014.
However, it wasn’t until two years later, under the management of Hubert Velud, that he transitioned to a left-back role for away matches in the Confederation Cup.
His definitive role as a central defender emerged in 2017, showcasing his exceptional skills and unwavering commitment.

TP Mazembe has responded positively to the transfer request from Kabwe Warriors, expressing gratitude to Chongo for his invaluable contributions to the club.
His name will forever be etched in the hearts of supporters, symbolizing his remarkable prowess during the peak of his career.
