Lameck Banda Set to Join Lecce Squad in Genoa Today
Chipolopolo winger Lameck Banda is set to join his US Lecce teammates today in preparation for tomorrow’s highly anticipated match against Genoa.
After Zambia’s early exit from the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, Banda is expected to fly directly to Genoa to reunite with his colleagues. He showcased his skills in all three of Zambia’s group matches in Ivory Coast, contributing to the team’s performance.
Zambia concluded the group stage in third place in Group F, accumulating just two points from drawing their initial two matches and facing a defeat against tournament favorites, Morocco.
Banda’s return comes as a significant boost for Lecce, who have struggled in their recent matches, being winless in the last five, including losses to formidable teams like Juventus, Inter Milan, Lazio, and Atalanta.
Under the management of Roberto D’versa, Lecce aims to secure their second victory over Genoa in 13 meetings. As of now, Lecce holds the 14th position in the league standings with 21 points, while Genoa sits at the 11th position with 25 points.
The clash between Lecce and Genoa is scheduled to take place tomorrow at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris, kicking off at 13:30.
