Madrid CFF has reportedly rejected a €400,000 (approximately K11.4 Million Kwacha) bid for Zambia Women’s National Team striker Rachel Kundananji. According to Spanish media outlet Marca, Kundananji is attracting interest from various NWSL teams, the top tier Women’s Football League in the United States of America.

Marca reports that one of the teams formally submitted a €400,000 offer to acquire the striker’s services, but the club promptly declined. The Zambian international is valued at around €700,000 (Approximately 20 Million Kwacha) by the club.

Kundananji joined the capital of Spain in the summer of 2022 from Eibar after Madrid CFF activated the footballer’s release clause following Eibar’s relegation to the Second Division (First RFEF), with one more year left on her contract. In the previous season, the Chililabombwe native scored 25 goals in 29 appearances for Madrid CFF, finishing as the second-highest scorer in the championship, just two goals behind Pichichi Alba Redondo of Levante.

In the current season, the 23-year-old has netted eight goals and provided two assists in 13 games, securing her position as the third top scorer in the F League, trailing behind Sheila Guijarro of Atlético de Madrid (11 goals) and Caroline Graham Hansen of Barcelona (10 goals).

Three weeks ago, Kundananji claimed the 2023 GOAL50 Women’s Award, surpassing FC Barcelona star Asisat Oshoala and Linda Caicedo of Real Madrid Feminina. Additionally, she was recognized as the revelation (breakthrough player) of the season at the MARCA Women’s Sports Awards and also received the Estrella Damm Best Goal award at the 3rd edition of Mundo Deportivo’s European Women’s Football awards.
