Frankie Musonda Delighted to Return to the Chipolopolo Squad

Zambian defender Frankie Chisenga Musonda expresses his joy at rejoining the Chipolopolo squad after a brief absence due to injury. The 26-year-old missed the team’s last four matches during the October and November international break.

Musonda’s return comes as a timely boost for the Chipolopolo, especially with the upcoming African Cup of Nations in January 2024 in Ivory Coast. Since making his debut in 2022, Musonda has accumulated 10 caps.

Reflecting on his comeback, Musonda shares his excitement, stating, “Yeah, I am really excited. It was unfortunate to get injured in October, and it carried on into November, so I just missed out.
But I have been back for about six, seven weeks now, and I feel good. Really excited to be back with the team.”

Looking ahead to the tournament, Musonda emphasizes the importance of swift preparations, saying, “I think we will travel very fast.
Just want to recover and work tactically with the manager and coaching staff. It should be good preparation as we head to Ivory Coast for the tournament.”

Musonda emphasizes the team’s focus on the upcoming challenges, acknowledging the tough opponents in their group. He states, “It’s a very exciting group; there will be tough opponents.
That’s why we all qualified for this stage; everyone is a good team and knows what they are doing.
So each game will be tough, and again, each game we all think we can win, so we just have to concentrate.”

Expressing their commitment, Musonda adds, “We are all going to be working hard and concentrating on the task at hand.
I am sure we will see your support from back home on social media and things like that. We just hope to make you proud.”

The Chipolopolo is set to kick off their AFCON campaign on January 17 against Congo, followed by a match against Tanzania four days later, with the final Group F encounter against the Atlas Lions scheduled for January 24.
