Copper Queens Secure Third Consecutive WAFCON Qualification, FAZ Lauds Zambia’s Women’s National Team for Commanding Victory Over Angola
The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has extended congratulations to the Zambia Women’s National Team, the Copper Queens, for their remarkable qualification to the Morocco 2024 Women Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON). The accolade follows a commanding 6-0 victory over Angola, securing a 12-0 aggregate win.
FAZ President Andrew Kamanga lauded the Copper Queens for their outstanding achievement, marking their third consecutive qualification to the prestigious WAFCON tournament. Kamanga expressed his pride in the team’s consistent growth and success on the international stage.
“On behalf of my executive committee and myself, I wish to congratulate the Copper Queens and the technical bench for sealing qualification to next year’s WAFCON. The Copper Queens brand has continued to grow and established itself as a regular at international tournaments,” Kamanga stated.
Highlighting the significance of the team’s ongoing participation in the WAFCON, Kamanga emphasized the continuous improvement and progress displayed by the Copper Queens in each tournament.
“It is a mark of great pride that the Zambian flag will fly at the WAFCON for the third consecutive time. It goes without saying that the graph speaks for itself, having always bettered our performance progressively at every tournament,” Kamanga added.
With qualification secured, Kamanga outlined FAZ’s plans for the team’s rigorous preparation for the upcoming WAFCON.
“Like we have done for any single team that has qualified for major tournaments, we will liaise with the technical bench over an intensive preparatory program,” he assured.
Expressing gratitude to the passionate fans who supported the Copper Queens at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola, Kamanga acknowledged their role in motivating the team. He urged the fans to maintain their unwavering support.
Additionally, Kamanga recognized the dedicated efforts of the FAZ secretariat staff in facilitating the team’s successful qualification. The Copper Queens’ triumph over Angola solidifies their dominance and promises an exciting performance in the Morocco 2024 WAFCON.
