Barbra Banda Applauds Rising Stars in Copper Queens Squad

Copper Queens captain Barbra Banda has commended the young players as they prepare for this evening’s crucial 2024 Morocco WAFCON final round second leg qualifier against Angola.

Addressing the media in the pre-match press conference, Banda expressed her satisfaction with the performance of the young players, highlighting their impressive display at the 2023 COSAFA Women’s Championship. She emphasized that the team is focused and determined, with no intention of easing up until they secure their qualification to Morocco.

Echoing the coach’s sentiments, Banda asserted the team’s readiness for the upcoming game, emphasizing that there is no room for complacency. She stressed the significance of the match, stating, “We are not relaxed as a team; we still have unfinished business. I believe the game is crucial for us as we aim to secure WAFCON qualification before shifting our focus to the match against Ghana.”

Banda praised the young talents in the squad, acknowledging their exceptional performance at COSAFA. She admitted to being impressed by their contributions, stating, “The young players in camp are doing well. Their performance at COSAFA was so impressive that I found myself wondering where I would fit into the team. We continue to support and encourage them.”

Having secured a nomination for the CAF Awards player of the year in the Women’s category, Banda sees this recognition as a testament to the hard work put in by Zambian female football players. She remarked, “Being on the list of CAF Awards nominees indicates the wealth of talent in Zambia, and as players, we are dedicated to putting in the effort.”

Zambia enters the match with a significant six-goal advantage, courtesy of their dominant first-leg victory in Luanda last week. The Copper Queens will host Angola at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium, with kick-off scheduled for 18:00. Tickets for the match are available at ShopRite Stores nationwide via Computicketing, starting from as low as K30.
